Bombshell leak reveals your phone really might be listening to you – and telling Facebook and Google
In a recent business presentation, major digital marketing firm Cox Media Group (CMG) reportedly told potential customers how it "listens" to "conversations" by accessing the microphone on users' devices - and then uses the data to provide targeted advertisements.
Google spokesperson said: "All advertisers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as our Google Ads policies, and when we identify ads or advertisers that violate these policies, we will take appropriate action." They added that Cox Media Group has now been removed from the Google Partners Program.
Amazon Ads said it has "never worked with CMG on this program" and has "no plans to do so". A Meta spokesperson said: “Meta does not use your phone's microphone for ads and we've been public about this for years. We are reaching out to CMG to get them to clarify that their program is not based on Meta data”
