Первое письмо от директора школы

November 10, 2023

Dear Langley High School Families,

Today, about 150 of our students walked out of 4th period Langley Links at 9:45. Students left the building in an orderly fashion and were outside for about 90 minutes before returning to class.

FCPS respects the rights of our students to engage in peaceful protest and express their opinions through speech and other ways as long as it is done respectfully, does not interfere with the rights of others, and does not disrupt learning in the school. Langley High School is committed to providing an environment where everyone is treated with respect and encouraged to help others.

Втрое письмо от директора школы

Dear Families,

This morning, Langley administration was made aware of social media posts by a former student making a vague threat of violence at tonight’s football game. We immediately contacted our Office of Safety and Security and the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) who began an investigation.

FCPD identified the individual who sent the messages and have determined that this threat has been mitigated. As a result, there is no threat to the school at this time. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

The safety of our students and staff is our primary concern, and we will always investigate these incidents as soon as they are brought to our attention. The first step that you should take if your child shares a safety concern with you is to contact authorities. If your safety concern is an emergency, please call 911. FCPS Office of Safety and Security also has a safety tip line that you can access anonymously online, by text, or by phone.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Третье письмо от директора школы

Dear Langley Community,

We have recently been made aware of two students using a hate symbol in a photo that has been posted to social media.

We want to be clear that FCPS does not tolerate this kind of behavior in our schools. It is unacceptable that any student at Langley HS feels that this is appropriate behavior. This is not the kind of school community we seek to cultivate. We have made a commitment in FCPS that any time these situations arise, we will share them with our school community to send a clear message that we denounce these actions.

Every student in FCPS has the right to feel safe and affirmed in our schools.Words matter, no matter the context, no matter the situation. In partnership with the Chief Equity Office, we will continue to work within our school community to have dialogues about dignity, humanization and belonging. I ask you to engage in these same conversations at home. Our students can make a difference in this world by learning to embrace and value our differences instead of using them to divide us.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
